SLP Double Roller Timing Chain
Has anyone installed one of these yet?
I'm hearing something about having to remove some kind of sensor on OBDII cars.
I ordered mine yesterday.

Re: SLP Double Roller Timing Chain
Hard to hear *anything* over the LM, but I'd say it's not noticeable in and of itself. There really can't be any increase in timing gear noise, or the knock sensors would be trying to retard alla time (mine are "desensitized anyways...)
BTW, there's only one double-roller, even what SLP sells. It's made by Rollmaster.
No sensor removal. Ya do haveta shim the oil pump (maybe .060) to make it past the double-wide gears. Shims came w/ mine from ARE.

Re: SLP Double Roller Timing Chain
SSINFUL,
I was trying to get this answer on another thread too, but since you've also installed the Rollmaster I'll ask here too. Did you have to modify the pickup tube at all? Doesn't the bolt hole need to be enlarged?
Thanks.

Re: SLP Double Roller Timing Chain
My engine was *out* of the car when installing, but there was no problem w/ the pickup tube at either end. It's only got a single bolt holding it in place up front.

When you say "remove the sump" that sounds to me like the double-roller needs to be installed with the engine out of the car. Is this correct? With the F-bodies the standard chain can be swapped with engine in car (lowering the oil pan/sump an inch or so helps).

Re: SLP Double Roller Timing Chain
I just installed my SLP double roller a couple of days ago. You do not have to slot the holes to make it fit. There is enough movement in the pick-up tube to allow the spacers to fit.
