Question concerning valve spring maximum lift. Question 1:
What's the maximum lift for a comp 918 spring?
Question 2:
Is there a spring that provides .650 lift that has the same overall dimensions as the 918 spring? In other words, one that provides that amount of lift and still work with my existing titanium retainers, etc? (I currently have 918 springs)

Re: Question concerning valve spring maximum lift. For lifts above .560" a dual spring should be used. The 918 spring is an amazing spring. Being a conical spring it can handle more spring loads than a standard cylindrical wound spring. Some guys are getting by using more lift with the 918s but longevity can become an issue. Two springs will handle the load in high lift applications better than one. <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" />

Re: Question concerning valve spring maximum lift. I think they're rated at .625 lift by Comp, assuming that they are installed at the proper height.
You'll be hard pressed to find a 1.25" spring that will handle .650 lift.

Re: Question concerning valve spring maximum lift. Thanks for your help guys...the lift number I will be reaching is .612, so I figure a spring that can handle .650 lift should be quite safe in this instance.
So a Comp dual spring w/titanium retainers should do the trick.
