Default URGENT! Question on what to do about heads

Ok, got my heads from TEA, unfortunately, they forgot to send me my springs, retainers, and valves. I got a 3 angle valve job done there. Can I just run the valves that are in my car right now or will that cause problems? I have most of the engine torn down already. I thought I would be able to get in contact with them today and just meet them halfway to get my stuff but I can't.

Oh yeah, I was just going to run stock valves as well.

All they do when you have a 3 angle vavle job is just the valves and almost posative nothing is done to the seats. I'd just wait on the springs and such before i puit them on. The vavles with the 3-angle will flow way better and not really worth the time and hassle of taking the heads off again. It's up to you but i my self would wait.

You sent TEA your stock heads to have them do a 3 angle valve job, and they sent you back a bare set of heads without the valves, springs or retainers?

I either dont understand what you are saying, or you got screwed real good.

What, they want you to put them togather at some later date.... WTF!

BTW, how do you get a 3 angle valve job without valves?

Confused,
Good Luck

I'm kind of confused too... How the heck does someone forget to assemble a set of heads?

A little clarification: The heads were sent to TEA disassembled. The valves were in a bag separate from the heads. They were to mill the heads .035 and do a valve job on the stock valves. They were not going assemble them as Allen was still waiting on his new springs. I was supposed to pick the heads up from the shop, but wasn't able to make it by during business hours so Allen called to have them shipped. I believe that the person he talked to didn't realize that he had valves there as well, so they didn't know to include them in the shipping.

They forgot to ship the valves (which they had performed a 3 angle job on and back cut) with the heads. We were planning to assemble them. Allen didn't think to check for the presence of the valves in the box before we started tearing the car down. His question was if he should just reuse his stock valves or wait until we could get the ones that TEA had worked on.

Your used valves should be reground or replaced if they have reground the seats. The contact patch could be concave on the valves, which will cause leaks or bad heat transfer, or burned valves.

If you want to try to use your old valves, assemble them and pour solvent into the port, hold the head up and check the CC for leaks.

But I wouldn't.

OK, now I understand...

I agree with the above, if the seats have been touched, I wouldn't try to put another set of stock valves in. Wait for your valves to get back to you...

If you dont mind me asking, do you remember what your final charge was for that work from TEA? I am going to have them do the exact same thing to my truck heads.
