Default Quick question about broken valve springs.......

Hey all, I've posted this on other boards and no one seems to know, I hope someone here can help.

I'm a newbie when it comes to aftermarket cams but have one in my Z, I got the cam installed approx. 2 months before the new 918 springs came out and have the infamous 941s in my car.
Question I have is, how do you know if you have broken a valvespring? Is it very obvious or can it go unnoticed? I have a slight clicking coming from the heads area but I'm thinking it's just the new valvetrain. Other than that the car runs great, smooth at WOT, a bit of a lumpy idle.
So how do you know when you've just busted a spring and futhermore, can you drive on a broken v.spring??
Sorry about the newbie question <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

Sudden loss of throttle response and power...very lurchy off-idle...may die when you come to a stop...may be difficult to restart engine. Depending upon how the spring breaks youmay get a loud lacking noise from the valvetrain

Unless you're looking for a big bill, pull over ASAP and get it towed.

I broke three springs last year, the third cost me $3000. I just broke another on the replacement set and still have to fix a minor valve issue.
