SLP parts
I've been lookin around at alot of performance parts for my car and i've noticed that SLP makes alot of the stuff i want to buy like a cam, valve springs, torque converter and other parts and i was just wondering if anyone knows if SLP parts are worth buying. Every part i found that SLP makes is alot cheaper than any other brand, i dont know if its because of quality, cuz i dont want to buy a part thats gonna cause problems in the future. thanks for the help.

SLP makes excellent parts for our cars but if your getting a converter call yank also all of our sponsors will take care of your needs so dont think SLP is the only one that sales a good product oh and welcome aboard my friend.

Re: SLP parts
So does this go for all of their products? I am looking into getting a new cam. They want $599 for the whole kit. Should I order from someone else? Has anyone here gotton their heads/cam package?

IMHO, I think you'd be better using some of the more popular (and proven) cams out there such as the ones from MTI or Thunder. Pricing should be very close.

Re: SLP parts
Unfortunately the customer service at SLP is poor. And it seems they drive the cost up on their products by 50%. The only way I would buy something from SLP is if they are the only ones that have what I need.
I would go to another sponsor and pay more just so I don't have to deal with them. I am sure if you talk to some other people they will feel the same.

Give Thunder Racing or Speed inc. a call, they will help you with anything you need, just tell them what your plans are and they will help you make the correct choice. Thanks to them my car loves me, and my tires hate me.

Re: SLP parts
Your best bet(by far) is to go with a better company. I've had nothing but bad luck with SLP.
Thunder Racing is incredible. I've had nothing but good experiences with them.
MTI does great work.
FLP built my tranny, great work and service as well, thanks Chuck.
Raging Motorsports does a damn good job. They have some of the best head/cam prices out there and Mark is great to deal with.
In short, there are a lot of vendors that are a much better shop with great customer service. SLP has earned my ire several times over and they will not get any more of my business.

Re: SLP parts
Thanks for the advice guys! I have been hearing alot of that lately. I have purchased little components from them though. Everything went fine there. $599 is a price range that you can't mess around with. Thanks all again.

Re: SLP parts
i was also looking at a comp cam for $389 but then the valve springs and titanium retainers are another $300 on top of that. thats why i was gonna go with slp cuz the cam and valve spring package was only $539. now on the converter, i was lookin at the yank website and i was thinkin about getting the 2600 stall converter. i dont want it to be too extreme cuz its an everyday driver for now. but anyway thanks for all the help.

Re: SLP parts
I had the SLP Stealth 2600. You'll have it for about 2 weeks before wanting a larger one.
You won't lose any drivability with a 3000 or 3500 stall converter. After a couple of days driving it, you'll never miss your old converter.
The thing to remember is these are lockup converters. Driving on the highway, it will feel the same as your stock converter--until you punch it.
SLP is a cheap, but not good option. So far, I haven't seen any of their products that did not have a serious negative associated with them.
Example: SLP Long Tubes--good power, good quality, hang so damn low you'll rip them off the head if your car is lower than stock.

Re: SLP parts
Damn, I just saw where you're from. Go to Missouri F-body Association Forums and register. We're having a get-together on July 12-13th. You can get a ride in whatever converter car you want. I have a ST 3500, others have Vig's, etc.
