I'm getting a 6.0L motor built and decided to just get a .03 overbore to hopefully stay away from cooling problems. Thin cylinder walls can cause problems by allowing the heat to be transferred to the coolant instead of being used and pushed out the exhaust. If there is some other underlying cooling issue with the 6.0L block that would be bad. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Are you running a 6.0 block and having cooling issues? Did you get it bored, what size or are you still running the 4.0" bore?

I was concerned about that as well. But I can tell you I have had 0 cooling problems. Car runs at the same temp as with the aluminum block..evn in 100 degree weather in stop and go traffic.

I ran mine today in 96 degree heat and 100% humidity. I had not cooling issues and my block is an .030" over 6.0L. I am however using the SLP high capacity radiator. I just figured it was cheap insurance...

i have had the block milled .030 over too. and i still have the stock radiator.

i don't think a .030 over bore will affect cooling much , not even more than that i think.

i guess my problem stems from the fact that an iron block dissapates heat much slower than aluminum , thus heating up more.

it just rained here tonight, so i took the car for a dirve in the rain. earlier that day the car would over heat with the AC on going down the highway with outside tems around 110, when i went out in the rain the temprature was much cooler ( about 90 ish) and there was the mist from other cars to cool things down even more. my temps while driving with the AC on this time were below 200 all the time.

this leads me to belive that the radiator is running at it's full capacity in the heat.
guess it's time for a be cool unit!!

will post results when i get it in.

.030 iron block in Houston. No problem at all. Runs same temp as my aluminum motor did.

.060 over LQ4 block here and I run like 176-190F all the time, it's all about the programming and bleeding the coolant system. I have like 3000 miles on my setup.

You can use LS1edit, a custom tuners program, or a Hypertech to make the fans come on earlier...I believe that is what John meant by tuning.

Also, you can wire up the fans to a switch so that they run all of the time.

If so it may run a little hot with the single fan when the A/C is on with real hot ambient temps. The radiator should help.

i have 2 fans ( one puller - ati kit, and an extra pusher fan) and they are both set up to go on at 180 deg. which is all the time on this motor.
