Anyone know if the Thunder 224 can pass the sniffer test at 220 ppm?

Great job Thunder! Have you guys ever seen a car low on timing peak at a higher rpm after you edited the fuel and timing tables? I either have a tuning or valvetrain demon that is making me

Awesome results. Im not really suprised though.....when you pair an awesome cam such as the TR224 with a badass set of heads, this SHOULD be the result. I have installed several TR224 cams in a variety of customers cars, and I am always pleased with the results! As for GTP.....his work does the talking. I used the same heads to run 10.9 @ 123.50 with a stock bottomend, NA A4. Ohh yeah...at 3475 pounds...no gutted racecar here!

Once again, congrats Thunder and Gtp!!

Those numbers are simply amazing.

What amazes me is the torque line. A lot of the recent 44x rwhp numbers seemed to be any where from 38x-40x rwtq, but you guys are in the 420 range. That is simply amazing.

It must be the royal purple.

Damn!!! That is awesome! 60rwhp from a set of heads.. That torque is crazy.. Craig knows what he is doing.. What is the compression ratio on those heads...?

Angie, any chance you could post the tabular data for the two pulls in this last graph (or links to them)? Thanks!

Hmmm....sounds like it's time for Thunder-racing to offer a GP on this little setup. I've been eyeballing the GTP stuff for a while now...this just adds fuel to the fire.

So how 'bout it Angie??? Does your Crystal ball show a GP anytime in the next few weeks?

Looks good! I used to use Craig when he ported for MTI. He's easily one of the best head porters around.

ALONG time ago When I bought my Lt1 heads from MTI around 96 or 97, Craig was doing all their headwork. They ended up splitting ways in the end.....im not sure how long he actually did their heads.

I will jump on this band wagon! I have done half a dozen GTP heads & TR224 cam jobs in the last couple of months. Every car that gets this combo puts out big #'s. Without tuning of any kind , or even an ls6 intake, I have had cars make 420 plus RWHP and 405 plus on the torque side. I can definatly see a properly tuned version making these #'s.

Very interesting to compare the GTP/TR and Cartek's setups. Both use 224 cams and show similar peak HP numbers.

The TR/GTP combo has better torque below 4000 rpm but also it runs out of steam earlier on the top end than the Cartek set-up. Assuming there are no dyno issues with MPH/RPM being off, a few possible theories emerge:

1) The TR/GTP combo uses a 112 LSA cam and maybe the Cartek cam is on a 114 LSA causing the powerband on the high and low ends to shift by about 300 rpm.

2) The Cartek LS6 heads port better for top end HP and GTP truck heads maintain better velocity at lower rpms.

3) Ghanns add more midrange torque while MACs shine at higher rpms.

Some combo of the above??

BTW, for the benefit of both shops, I'm posting this in both threads and would like to hear their thoughts.
