Water in my oil, PLEASE HELP!
I just had my LQ4 Iron 370 built about 6500 miles ago and i am positive there is water leaking into the oil. I check my oil level quite frequently and rust strarted to appear on the oil dipstick about 2-3 weeks ago. Im guessing it is a head gasket but does anyone know where else water can leak into the oil supply. Also does anyone know if those coolant stop leak products would be a good idea to use until i can get it fixed? TIA.
Do you have ANY part of the motor vented to atmosphere (valve cover breather perhaps). If your oil level isn't going up, the car isn't running warmer than normal, and there is no steam coming from your exhaust, I think what you are seeing is normal. My 2000 T/A did the exact same thing. It had a vortech on it and I had a valve cover breather on it. My dipstick actually started to corrode. I just wire wheeled it and put it back in. Make sure you stay on top of oil changes too, as condensation will put water into your oil and reduce it's lubricity properties.
When i changed the oil i did see some milkly swirls in it and when i took the oil fill cap off there was water under the cap and around the fill tube. Also my water level is lower than the last time i checked it maybe 2 months ago. And no i dont have any part of the motor vented (no breather). I wonder if maybe it is only leaking around the head gasket when it is hot in the form of steam. Any suggestions please.
