Yup she is driving just fine now . I got to put a few miles on her tonight. She feels pretty good below 4500.

It is too hard to not get into it after 6 weeks of not driving her

I will get some new dyno numbers by the middle of next week with the new F1 cam.

Oh, did you find what was wrong with the Cometics?

Both of the gaskets looked fine as did the block surface and the head surface. I really don't know exactly what the problem was with them.

As soon as the stock gaskets went on the car ran perfect. Have you guys had any problems like that before with the Cometics?

I thought it was called the FU cam?

Glad you got it running. Time to put some miles on it and hit the track.

awesome Matt! I'm glad to hear that you got the setup fixed. Now just buy a set of 28" Hoosiers with 15x10's and head to the track!

No probs with the Cometics here, but I have stock heads, no milling.. Maybe it was your milling with the steel gaskets?

What lube did you use on the studs into the block? Moly or Motor Oil? TQ spec match? Mabe it wanted a bit more TQ than listed spec?

I used a Moly lube on the bolts when I installed them.

It was not the torque spec that caused the issue. Like I said before I have installed multiple sets of these gaskets and never had this issue before. Most of the previous installs were using stock head bolts which were torqued to 65 ft/lbs.

I was using the ARP's torqued to 75 ft/lbs. I only torqued the stock head gaskets back to 70 ft/lbs and still all is well.........

Glad all is well.

So do you think it was milling imperfections and the steel gasket surface mating that caused the issue?

Damn right!

Not sure it matters, the bolts probably stretch past a certain TQ spec. Max TQ they can take I assume without breaking and stretching some. More is better. He followed the GM spec for years but believes it is BS. I'm not gonna go into it any more. Do whatcha want. Def be afraid of doing something differnt and not following the GM bible.

I am not sure what exactly was causing it to leak. I am just glad that it is not leaking now

I will have some dyno numbers at the end of the week, with the MT1 S2 heads and the new Fastech F1 cam, and will prolly have some new track times in the next few weeks........
