Default MTI X1 Cam users - do you "have" to have your car/pcm tuned?

I am thinking about scooping up this cam (MTI X1 230/227 .591/.571 112) and want to know if you MUST have your car tuned to get it to idle/run - or will the infamous hole in the TB Blade work ok until I decide whom I want to tune it..

Best Regards,

Do you have an automatic or stick? I'm running the tr227/224 in my automatic and the idle is rough but it runs.

I am pretty sure you do. Its got a pretty good chop from what I have been told and good surge. Mine should be here in about 3 weeks along with the stage 2 LS6 heads!

I run the X1 and wouldn't recommend it without the custom tuning. You could probably get away with just the hole in the TB for a little while, but I think it would just be a serious PITA and who needs the extra aggravation?

Just drive down to MTI one Saturday and have Jayson handle it for you. He did mine and I couldn't be happier.

Good luck!

BTW - what is the average "scheduled wait time" for cam installs @ MTI? A week or two?

I scheduled mine about two weeks in advance and it took them about a day and a half to get it finished.

Patrick? told me that they wouldnt install an X1 when using Comp 918 Springs..

They want me to put in some Manley Springs & TI Retainers - and I JUST BOUGHT the 918s..

I guess I will consider another cam - prolly a custom grind encompassing a mix of a few reverse splits I have read about.... as I dont want to change out springs right now..
