Stock Cam Specs...again?
I found my High Performance Pontiac magazine that has an article on SLP's 500-HP stroker kit and installing it into a TA. They write showing the stock cam and the new cam. They say the stock cam is 215 Intake/227 exhaust duration, 119.5 LDA, and .500" lift. Is this accurate? I have a 2001 Formula and I know that I have a different cam than the previous years.

I have NO IDEA where they got 215/227 for a stock cam! The '01 and '02 LS1's switched over to the same cam as the truck. Thunder Racing put one on the cam doctor, and it speced out to 192/190, .455"/.465", 115 LSA. You can see why these cars have a lot to gain with a nice cam swap. I THINK the '98 specs were 202/208, .500"/.500", and around a 117 or 118 LSA. I know that the .500" lift is right, and the duration is very close to what I quoted, if not correct.

I belive its
2001-02 LS1 C5 (also 6.0L truck)
198/208 .500/.500 LSA:115.5
Base circle: 19.7mm
if you wanna argue real hard Ill go out in
the garage, and pick up my stocker cam, but
is there #'s stamped on it anywhere ??

Do you have a micrometer? Measure the circle base and then measure the lobe. There is the lift. Next, do you have a degree wheel and a dial indicator with a magnetic base? You can measure the opening and closing of the lobes at .050" and note the degrees and multiply by 2. There is your duration. I would do it myself, but I haven't torn my engine abpart yet.
