Default best dd cam?

well i have a 98 ws6 but technically the car is my dads, he wants to keep it pretty much stock, but i want to go the way of a cam, what would help settle both our needs, i want power and he wants something that wont affect reliability or gas mileage much, any help? thx

I was going to recommend my cam. It's a fairly low duration/higher-lift cam. 222/222 at a .566"/.566" with a 112 LSA. It's a Comp Cams Extreme custom grind. I used to daily drive the car and you can only really tell it's cammed when I open the cutout.

+2 on the nothing above 224.

I'd recommend my cam as well. Stock like street manners. Combine it with a set of 243's and you'll have an animal that drives like stock.

Anything can be DD'ed with a tune for the street. Just shy of a solid roller in the 260+'s

220/224 .585/.585 114, great daily driver cam that makes excellent trq and hp. strong trq from 2500-5600, and peak hp at 6000. the rpm range of thse cam is 2200-6100.

i have a Comp Cam 224: 224/224 .581/.581 @112lsa and its a great under the curve power cam (not a peak #/dyno queen cam). It's pretty much the same specs as the TR224. Go with a 224 and you will be pleased...

Stick with a 224 grind of your choice. I prefer the 112LSA over a wider LSA. Bump the idle to 900-925rpms and it will purr with no driveability issues assuming a good tune is performed. My setup drives very much like stock but with alot more power. I DD the car alot during good weather.

hmmm if its dads car thats mean u dont want to much of rough i dle and shaky start

i will recommend sheater cam in thunderracing its pretty good cam its well give u power all around the rpms like the 224 with slight decrease in low end torque but it has a stealth idle like factory. good luck

depends on your tolerance of a modded car...

I daily drive a TSP 233/239, its all in the tune though. It drives stockish once its warmed up lol. I went with a TR227 to start. It was an EXCELLENT daily driver cam...then i decided the driveability was TOO good. Went with the 233/239, and still wouldnt mind something a little bigger

LMAO, I love it when people say stuff like TRex, no problem. You can make them drive like stock if the tune is right. Funny thing is that I have never experienced that. I would say something in the 224/.580 114 range. Those other cams will change the driving manors from stock. Not saying you couldnt DD it, but there will be a substancial driving difference to those larger cams.
