I was listening to my car and at about 2500 rpms and up there is a small ticking, almost like a exhaust leak on the headers. Then I checked the oil and it was about 1 1/2 quarts low. I put oil in it and it still has the same noise. I know it is hard to quess what it could be but what is the first instinct, im going to pull the vavle covers to see if i can find anything there. thanks

Header bolts can loosen so you might just want to check those and see.

 

Sounds like a pushrod.
