There are two kits, one is rockers, jam nuts and adjusting nuts. This kit doesn't include the studs, guide plates or pushrods. The other kit includes all the parts and this is what you need for installation.

I have the Gold Race rocker kit and it did come with 7.250 length pushrods. After asking Crane, summit and these fine people on LS-1 tech you do need different pushrods and they are not just torqued to 22 pounds.

If your wanting to upgrade rockers the Crane kit is top of the line. If they were out when I bought my YT's in 03 I would have bought them. They are expensive but just the fact of having an adjustable valvetrain is worth it. You can adjust for perfect valvetrain geometry.

We finished the testing on these rockers back in late 1998. They have been available ever since. Joe

Did not know that. I searched all the rockers for over a week before buying and never heard a thing about them. I checked with alot of sponsors here too.

if you bought the complete kit, you have the correct length pushrods. follow the instructions outlined here for proper install.

because most will tell you to stay with the stock rockers and that aftermarket rockers are a waste. i will tell you to go with the vinci/crane rockers. mainly, because i did and have seen the gains associated with them.

Question Crane Roller Rockers Durability...

Have been told that the Crane rockers have a life of 30,000 miles on a street engine & should then be replaced. True or false? Thanks, Gar

In general terms aluminum won't carry the fatigue life that a stainless or steel rocker will, however it is also a function of the stress level (spring loads, cam rate, etc.). I have never seen a mileage number associated with these rockers either. The small block crane rockers have been around for a looonnnnggg time, wonder what kind of mileage they get out of those?

I think from a general observation these are very well designed rockers, which if you look at the shape you can see why the material is put where it is. The HS rockers are basically flat and the material is not put in areas that can help strengthen the rocker. Crane seems to have added material to strengthen the rocker that will be in compression rather than tension, which is key to a long life.

Crane makes two rockers for the LS1, the stud mounted which I have and their newer shaft mounted. The shaft mounted required some head machining that also requires the heads to be off the car. Had they been available six months earlier, I would have went with them but they released them right in the middle of my head installation

Oh well, if the heads come off again for some reason I will re-visit the Crane shaft rockers.

I got one of the first sets of Dart heads when they came out and the Cranes wouldn't quite fit (Dart has since corrected this minor issue). So I fully disassembled the heads and used some tools to fix the issue. When I set up the heads, I tried the stock rockers and the Cranes on the workbench with checking springs to assess the wipe pattern. The stock rocker wipe pattern was not consistent and was very very wide. With the Cranes, I could get a narrow wipe pattern (for a single direction wipe as the LS1 rockers are) and had full control over the setup which I liked. Here are my Crane 1.7 fully adjustable stud mounted rockers on the Dart heads after I installed them.

I was considering the shaft mount rockers when I did mine a few months ago and talked to Roger Vinci about it. Roger told me that the shaft mount rockers were overkill for a street car. I do about 3-4 HPDE's a year also and he still said that the stud mount rockers would be the best fit. Retail price comparison, the shaft mount rockers without the machine work are double the cost of the stud mount.

Either way you choose to go, either of the Crane rockers are great products.
