"So, while I understand that the drivetrain is a power-rob on the C5 in comparison to the F-bod,..."
That's it in a nutshell.

Hrm, i've had both and I haven't noticed what you are talking about.
At one point I had a 2000 SS, M6, Heads/cam and it dyno'd 362rwhp.
I now have a 1999 C5, M6, heads/cam and it dyno'd 363rwhp.
Once the camaro exhaust was done, it did 415rwhp. I'll see what the C5 does soon as I can afford headers.

We have talked about this over on the Corvette Forum C5s have more drive train loss than the F bodies. An M6 C5 has a 15% drive train loss, the C5 A4s have 18% to 20% drive train loss.

So, while I understand that the drivetrain is a power-rob on the C5 in comparison to the F-bod, that's not a good enough explanation for me, and it doesn't explain enough of the changes in output... I'd like a definitive reason why there is such a (sometimes) dramatic fluctuation in mod/vs/gain results between the two...
Mod-for-mod, it seems the F-bods always out-perform the C5's--even when you would think it shouldn't--
I'm not talking weight here, or track times...I'm talking Dyno-shown gains on one vs the other...
(BTW--I'm looking for serious discussion here, fellas--not "because our cars are better" or "but you can't do s#it in the turns" or any other pissing-contest type crap like that)

I would have figured that on Corvette Forum the F-bodies would have had the less efficient drivetrain. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />
