Lost my motor last night ,25000 miles stock with a few 100 shot passes through it , looks like rod bolt may have failed ! the LS1 in stock form is way to week in my opinion , I have run 150-175 shots of nitrous on my 5.0s with over 100,000 miles and never once had a failure ... What blows my mind when she let go I was just cruising down the road in OD and felt a shutter and then "BOOM"

Well lets see. I have a lid and K&N and broke the t-56 at 2500 miles and about 30 track passes.
Supposedly bent shift fork.
I got new fork, 3rd gear, 3rd synchro and some other little stuff.

I lost my motor about 6 months after my heads/cam install... Spun two rod bearings and one main... The stock auto tranny and stock rear w/3.23's held up pretty good though, car had roughly 45K miles on it. While everything is apart for the new motor I'm going through and changing a lot of things... (12-bolt, new converter, k-mamber/a-arms, etc...)

RED QUASAR:
FWIW, they make a steel 3->4 shift fork aftermarket. Dunno if it's a Viper compatible piece or a C5R piece, but it is out there. I put one in during my last rebuild. Nice looking piece. I never bent one, but they said the 3rd gear shift is the most common one to go.

I think my car is fragile or something, because I broke the clutch, tranny and rear in that order after H/C on my M6. Im not 100% sure the tranny needed a rebuild, but the installer found a broken retaining clip on the input shaft when looking at the torched clutch, so we fixed that. Seems to be running ok now -knock on wood!
