Default New to this powerplant, where do I start?

I have a 98 WS6 Ram-Air, I would like to get 450 horses naturally aspirated( with a possible NOS kit later). I would like to know if anyone knows where the closest reputable head shop or LS1 "specialist" is from Little Rock, AR. My initial plan is to install an LS6 intake, ASA hotcam, ported heads, hooker long tubes, new converter, 3.73's, all the free mods, computer reprogram. Just a couple questions:

What am I missing?
Does this sound right?

Our sponsors that are engine builders within your general range from Arkansas: LG Motorsports and Horsepower Store are in Dallas area, Motorsport Technologies and Speed Demon are in Houston, Futral and Thunder Racing are in Baton Rouge. Check out their sites and feel free to ask for some opinions on here.

For 450 rwhp all-motor, expect to increase the cubes up to at least 382ci. I'd recommend an all-bore 382ci setup with some Stage 3 heads, preferibly LS6 castings, and a 23X intake duration cam.

My old MTI 382ci all-bore pulled 455 rwhp with Stage 3 LS1 heads, and a 221/221 camshaft, and also idled like stock and got 24 mpg on the highway. I ran 11.19 with that cam in my full weight car, and ran 11.08 after I swapped to a 232/232 camshaft and swapped in a 12-bolt rearend.

You might as well install some ASP pulleys to help yourself out a little.

Greenbrier, AR...welcome to LS1's from Little Rock. Not too much in the area that gives a lot of focus on LS1's. I know of one shop in NLR, but their focus is mostly PCM/electronics, I believe, and not the LS1. I also know a guy from the airbase (Tim) that is having some porting work done locally I believe. But that's about it.

Like Tony said, most of the heavy LS1 focus shops are in south Lousiana and the Dallas/Houston area.

My car (till we trashed it a few months ago at Centerville) was all home work with parts ordered from reputable shops over the internet. The LS1 is pretty easy to work on.

450 crank or flywheel hp is easily attained without touching the stock shortblock though <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
