How do you pull a LS1 motor in an fbody??
I always pull the intake when pulling an LS1. You don't "have" to, but it only takes 10 minutes and gives you MUCH more clearance. Take out the radiator, unhook all necessary hoses. Pull the transmission out of the car. Then, start unbolting the motor mounts. On the pass. side you'll have to pull the AC compressor, on the other side I can access the motor mount bolt pretty easy. To bolt up the hoist, I used a hole on the FRONT of the driver's side head, and the REAR of the pass. side head.
It's not really that much of a job. Can be done in one day no prob, especially if you have a buddy around wanting to help. Feel free to drop me an email if you have any more questions....

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
My son had the tedious stuff done in advance, so the only thing we had to do was drop it. Dropping it took about an hour.
All in all it was not that hard with the right equipment and a couple of hands. I guess that all total it could be done in about 3 hours or less.
The pictures I saw, the guy happened to have a lift in his garage! I thought it looked easier to pull it out the bottom, but figured you needed a lift.
Now I have read a few posts from people who did it in their garage without a lift, and I am more interested again.
Thanks for any links or pictures.
