Default Fired up the 12:1 motor

Damn does it sound good <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

its basically a freshened up bottom end:
Total Seal rings, clevite 77 rod bearings, FM main bearings, ARP Pro2000 rod bolts, SLP double chain, Katech oil pump. Top end consists of Crane lifters, GTP S2 5.3L heads milled ~.040 (had to flycut the pistons .020), 232/232 .574/.574 112 camshaft (MTI T2).

Exhaust still needs to be addressed...right now its only Dynatech stepped headers with 3" Dynomax bullet mufflers welded on the collectors...needless to say its DAMN loud haha.

Lets just say this thing sounds down right IGNORANT <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> It lopes VERY VERY hard <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" /> Took it for a quick drive and kept it under 5K since its breaking in <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" /> also didn't go WOT due to the fact it probably has too much timing for that. Even at half throttle it hauls *** haha <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Just have a few more issues to resolve (leaky rear main seal <img border="0" title="" alt="[Sad]" src="gr_sad.gif" /> and need to fab up something for an exhaust)

Are you planning on tuning it with the LS1 Edit? What kind of gas you gonna run?

Good news Brian. I know that starter is getting a workout turning that thing over as hard as it was to do by hand. Guess you'll be needing those springs quicker that I thought. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Good luck with the new setup!! I'm sure you will get the absolute max out of it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> Can't wait to see you make a few maiden voyage runs in it at the track. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />

Let us know when you take it to the track!

Sounds good man!!!
What are you planning exhaust setup wise? Dual three inch?
3 inch Ypipe into 3 inch intermediate pipe?
I bet it sounds mean!!
Cheers,
Chris

haven't fully decided yet about the exhaust...

but the way the headers are facing right now is surely lending itself to duals <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

You should get the brak in done and hit MIR on Friday. Lots of passes to dial it in. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Brian, which torque arm do you have now? I thought it was the Spohn. If so, you'll have problems with duals....if not, Jeff at Insane Exhaust just did some real nice work for me.

Awesome Brian, so you'll have the best of both world. Street/Strip. I'm assuming you'll have to keep it somewhat docile while runing the 93 octane.

Brian,

If you are going dual think about picking up a 3 inch Xpipe <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Think you can get dual three inch over the axle? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

I wonder how much timing you can run on 94 octane?
Did you go with cometic head gaskets or stock?
Cheers,
Chris

I know dual 2.5" pipes have been done, but not 3" pipes. I have the 3" pipes and looked into that myself, but it would be harder than pulling teeth IMO..

Your timing is going to be low to run on pump gas... Around 22 or 23 I would think....
