I recently put in a c1 cam and it seems to surge in any gear under 1500 rpm while not accelerating. Is this normal without tuning, and stock heads?

But, yes. Have you drilled the throttle body blade? If you haven't, try that, it will allow more flow of air at idle.

thanks, and no I haven't drilled the blade. I dont have a problem with the idle at all, just when crusing below 1500 rpm is all(1500 or above and its fine).

does it "jerk"? Under 1500 my hotcam will give ya an annoying ride sometimes with out accelerating, lol...just give it constant gas and get her over 1500...

Yes, I guess "jerk, or chuging" is the more correct term for what its doing, like steping on ant off the gass real hard and quick.

Yup - that can be pretty normal. Sometimes it can best be described as bucking - car surges forward then stops then surges forward then stops and does it pretty rapidly.
You can do some minor mods to help with it, but is best to keep revs out of that zone.

yha its all in the norm , drill out the TB plate and it should do a little better , mine does it everyonce in a while , but thats the price you pay for a big cam

Also, you can port the TB, and raise the idle a little with LS1Edit or similar. Otherwise, it comes with the territory of a big cam.
Now, go wind out that cam and see why you got it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Thanks guys, I thought that was common but just needed some reasureance. Any sudj. on how big to go with the hole? I did port the TB btw. I will wind the **** out of it once I get the time to reset the rev limiter. Am I correct in saying that it should be shifted at 6500?
