Default Cam Help Please Look Inside?????????

I hate to use names but I really do not have a choice anymore. I ordered 2 cams from ELITE MOTORSPORTS out of HOUSTON, TX. I ordered the T1 specs. I specifically said a T1. Well I have them installed and both were puttting down the same #'s (within 1 to 2 HP/TQ of each other) because we have exactly the same mods. 374RWHP and 342RWTQ. Both cars have had the lS1 edit and both have been a tapped several times. It is definetly the cams. Well the torque sucks. I call them up and they say that the cams should have been degreed in 108 on the intake centerline and I would need an adjustable timing set to do this. What???? I called MTI and they always use 0 degrees, dot to dot, which does not require an adjustable timing set. What the hell is this? I did not order that. Elite also told me when I bought the cams that they were getting some new corrs in so it would take a little longer. Doesn't that mean that they are new cams not regrinds? I was told today they are both regrinds. Elite also told me depending on who the grinder is what they need to be degreed in at. One cam had a lunati stamp on it and the other had a comp stamp. The grinder is GTP out of Houston also. I don't have a problem with them. They did what elite asked.

I was told these would be new cams LIE. I was not told I would need an adjustable timing set (Bullshit).

Also we were not given a spec card. I should have waited to install them, but I decided to trust them. I asked for the specs on a T1 cam where you line them up dot to dot. I did not ask for these cams. They said they sent me what I asked for. Bullshit I did not want a cam that you have to buy an adjustable timing set for. I have already paid $450 for the install and now I have pay this again because ELITE MOTORSPORTS screwed up. Am I missing something here? Does anyone else think this is Bullshit??? I just got a faxed copy of the spec card today. I will scan it in and hopefully have a link to it tommorow. Why would they they not grind the cam to be installed dot to dot?

My questions are:
Do I need an Adjustable timing set??

Does anyone know why I got a cam that you would have to degree in, instead of a cam that you line up dot to dot?

Does not sound right. My cam was degree'd in, but I have a balanced and blueprinted shortblock.. When I had the T1 is was installed straight up with no problems. I only went with a new timing chain because I could.. It is really not needed. How many miles are on the old chain?

pretty sure the T1 is on a 108IC. its ground in, so it IS dot to dot...but still on a 108. w/o the card, you really dont know what the specs are. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

My current chain has 42,000 miles on it. Plenty of Life left. I have to have an Adj timing set because they did not grind the advance into the cam, like MTI does. Since MTI does this you only have to line the cam up dot to dot. I now know GTP does not. It would have been nice if they would have told me this.

The only reason I bought a cam from Elite is because it was a CHEAPER route than MTI. Now I actually will spend more than I would have if I bought a real T1. $335 for the cam and $180 for ADJ timing set. I told them I was buying their cams because it was cheaper than MTI. I think that is why they did not send me the spec card. I said I wanted the specs of T1. Doesn't that mean the exact specs. I meant EXACTLY what I said. None of them ever told me I would need a adjustable timing set until a month after I had the cam in the car. If I would have known this I would have bought a real T1. Know I have to pay for installation again. I don't have a micrometer or a degree wheel.

Where would you buy a micrometer and a degree wheel? Autozone, Pep Boys, Dealership???????

There is a reason why MTI has a little banner over there -->
They are a sponsor, they are more than proven to be a beyond reputable shop. Everyone seems to try to save a few bucks and buy from a non sponsor but the always realize their mistake.

I would pull that cam out and ask Elite to take it back. Then have MTI order you a comp cam with 4* advance ground in and slip it in dot to dot.
You should cam doctor the cam after you pull it out, could suprise you.

I wish I could but, Elite has pretty much told me to screw off. They will not give me my money back.
