Default LS6 block HELP!!! #1 & 5 cam mains are .015" to big...

just as it says. my engine builder just called me and told me that the cam mains on the front & rear (#1 & 5) are .015" larger ID then the rest. the cam bearing will just slide in & out with your fingers on those 2 holes. he checked with other bearings & another block.

has anyone else seen/had/heard of this problem before? he said it does not look like it spun the bearings before either.

BTW- i bought this block from a well known member on here, it didn't have any cam bearings in it when i got it. it IS an LS6 block to.

i know its an 04/05 because it has the same length head bolts/studs. he looked & they only make one size cam bearings for the LS engines.

There are two different cam bearing sets for the LS1 - one for the 98-03 blocks and '04+. Durabond has a set for both. These are the ones I use.

Yes, the newer blocks have a larger cam housing bore than the older blocks, thus needing a larger OD bearing. #2/#4 on the newer blocks use the same bearing as #1/#5 on the older blocks. #3 is identical on both style blocks.
