What cam is too big for simple tune?

What cam is too big for simple tune?
Trying to decide on LS1 cam for an M6 car that won't require sending out the PCM to get it tuned. What's the biggest that MAFT and holes in throttle body will make drivable? Can maybe LS1edit help? Choices are from 220 to 224 duration. Lifts around .550. 114 or 112 LSA. I think 224 is pushing it and will need tuning. What would you guys recommend and if you can help out with tuning directions, that would be even better. Thanks.

TTT
i would like to know to
although what i can tell you is that with a 112LSA it migh throw a misfire code...I know BIGBOS (Brian) has a 222 .563 112 single patter, and thats what happened...but he only had the MAFT and TB drilled. Maybe he'll comment along with others.

Dom: If yer gonna buy LS1_Edit, then all bets are off anyways. It can do whatever an outside programmer can do, and you won't haveta pull the PCM and ship it somewheres...
*Every* aftermarket cam benefits from programming. Some folks are running the B1 (in a Mn6) w/out programming. I figure something similar would make it. I had the Comp 216/220 (low lift #'s) and it ran waaaay better after programming for it. A lot of aftermarket cams will set off the O2 sensor codes 'cause they're passing more unburnt gas than stock.

I installed a 230/230 .578 114lsa and it rus great. The car put down 421/400 w/o tuning, no idle or fuel issues. I have milled the heads .030 and no clearancing issues. Hope this helps.

I have a TR224 (224/224 .561/.561 112 LSA) I had no tuning and it ran like damn near stock. Especially with the cat back and Cats I run it was really quite. It ran really well, and I only got 1 SES light froma misfire then it left with no problems. LS1edit it what I used with my car. I gained roughly 8-10HP with it thanks to Mark at Raging Motorsports.
