My wifes Mercedes goes anywhere from 10k to 14k between oil changes (based on the computer and driving habbits etc). MB uses M1 Tri Synthetic.

I go 15k hard miles in my Dodge Dakota QC4x4 with the 4.7L engine. Hard miles and I use M1.

I did the same on my 99 5.3L Silverado, 15k miles between changes on M1.

On my 99Z, I use Valvoline Syn and change by 2k miles or sooner. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> I get crap on my drain plug on every oil change. I use to us M1 and changed and the crap is still there. Definitely picked up after heads/cam.

Again, can any of this sludge be attributed to the fact that I just ran the GM top-end cleaner through my motor?

Another vote for "always had sludge". I have had the goo on my oil plug since I purchased my car.

Another vote for "got worse after H/C" as well.

I would say if you really don't think it was metal, and was some kind of goo, it may have been from the cleaner. I was under the impression you should change your oil after you use that stuff. If it is from the cleaner, maybe pull a couple of plugs and see if there is any crap on them too.
