Valve questions
I heard from someone that you can run a 2.02 intake and 1.57 exhaste valve with the stock valve seat. From what I've heard they will fit with no additional machine work??? I was going to have the heads ported/milled with a valve job with the stock valves. Would I see a noticeable flow difference by switching the valves??? New valves look to be around $200.

i have done a great deal of work with heads over the years, recently been spending all my time with the Gen III motor. short answer is 'yes' you will get better flow from these valves, and 'yes' they will mate to stock seats. HOWEVER, the rest of the story is, you have to get the machine work done to take advantage of the flow. this will entail opening the throats of the valve seats. any head machine shop would know this and will take care of you. the stock valve seats do have a very generous amount of meat to them, so, opening the throats to accomodate the bigger valves will work out famously. been there/done that!!
If I may here, I work at a machine shop and do heads and valvejobs every day.....
If you are talking about LS1 heads - I am not sure. I'll check our books today to see if we have any specs on it. As you may or may not know, the 2.02/1.60 is a popular upgrade on the 'old' Chev heads.
Are you from Streamwood, IL? That's where my friend's 12-second 9C1 lives.
I'll check the books today.

P.S. What size are stock LS1 valves? You should see a better gain in flow by going to the bigger valves.
However, if the bigger valves *do* require new seats, the cost of the job may not offset the amount of power gained.
Doubtful, but does anyone in the Chicagoland area have a spare LS1 head sitting around? hahahah, thought I'd ask....I'd be interested to see where Chevy put the seat and how wide it is. If it's a good job, another 'race' valve job might get you nothing.
