but what did john run in a similar DA with his stripped car. well, not stripped...but 3300lbs isnt actually full weight..especially since some of that weight is a cage. also, didnt john run 10.66 like one time? he run's 11's in the current DA, right?

CMarsh went 10.94 (first 10-sec h/c car i believe) with a GTP heads/cam. 3450+lbs...a while ago too.

hell, Jantzers home ported heads and OLD mms 224 cam go tens.

I still like GTP for the simple reason that GTP cars have nearly equalled any feat an MTI car had done...and they're a little less moola.

but dont get me wrong....MTI kicks ***. john's car is 'ok'

I'll let John chime in if he wants to post any of his times. I'm not going cough up that information. He is the only to share his times. I don't think he will though since we are street racing right now.

Terry, don't kid yourself about Raughammer being completely gutted like you think. Your car is at least as gutted and weight-reduced as his is. His isn't to the level of Colonel's car, not even close. John still has A/C and all the belt-driven accessories, not to mention the stock brakes. His new lightweight hood and battery were not on the car in the fall, they are recent.

And, his car is always evolving. You have a moving target on your hands.

Ryan, GTP heads are cheaper because there is less labor involved. GTP stage 2s use stock valve seats, MTI stage 2s have hardened, larger diameter valve seats and bigger valves.

Some people argue for the valve size, others argue against it. All I know is that MTI seems to be the most consistent based on all of their customers that post on the net.

Tony, you're right. we need a light A4 guy with MTI's stage one heads to make a good comparision (apple to apple). But since the thread was S2 vs. S2...

If I was doing it for real...and I didnt get a hook-up from Speed Demon or TR...I'd get MTI Stage One heads and that fancy X1 cam. I'd just call it a COMP CAM, lol.

Terry,
One thing you may want to do is do a compression check. You have been running the blower with issues for a while and might have a cracked ringland. Might influence your decision. I dont know if GTP sells complete bottom ends, big bores etc like ARE/MTI do but that might affect your decision. (You would want to go from the same source for a complete motor for warranty, ease of install and just peace of mind. Both companies do great heads but you may need more than that.
Best of luck,
Chris

He never posts pictures of his car so it's hard to tell what he really has, but from when I've read of people who have seen it, he is missing all his interior, and has spent a lot of time gutting the car. What is his raceweight? I know they have scales at HRP.

I just need to figure out how to get that 1.38 60' time and I'll be able to pass him up.

chris,

I kinda think the ati just needs tuning and injectors to run properly, so far 11.91 was my best in the HEAT. A compression test is a great idea though which I might look into. I am anxious to sell the charger and see what I run then without it.

HERE IS WHAT I AM DOING FOR SURE:
what should this run? mid 10's?

mti stage 2 ls1 heads
mti X1 114 cam
ls6 intake
tnt 100 wet shot
yank tp 4400
sending my computer to MTI.
I already have my suspension dialed in and pulling the wheels!

The stall is too big, get a PYE3600 for the juice.

x1 cam on a 114 should spin some high rpms. 100 shot will be ok. for 150 shot I wouldn't go above 4000 stall.

i wouldnt use a loose 9" 4000 stall...that could be too much. more like Yank's 6-bolt 4000 stall....or a vig3200 stall (3800rpm). the vig will flash to 4500 or so...maybe more.

1.)OH man 13:1 sounds Real streetable! Your heat seeking missle will be a trailer queen just like a real missle (not to say it already isnt )

2.)Raugh DOES post pics of his car. He just posted like 5 of them with his new hood. Look on his web page. And, in all the posts I've seen of his he DOES post raceweight.

3.)And Terry, you need to figure out how to get your racecar out of the mid 1.5's before you consider 1.4's let alone 1.38's LOL!

I have had great luck with the GTP stage 2s on my car last year. The car went 11.16@125.59 with a 3450 raceweight. The car was just a 60' away from a 10.90 pass with a N/A stock-bottom end car.

You really can't go wrong with either set of heads. Good luck with your setup.

Jason

Freaking Hillarious Thread!

Terry (the topic starter), While both GTP and MTI have some good heads. I would have to give my vote to MTI. I could not be any happier with the streetability and power of my set up as it sits right now. It is just so tame and dependable..... but lordy when the hammer goes down, does it puts down the numbers!

Do your research, study the choices and make a good decision. Good luck on whatever you decide to do. If I can help you out with any pertinant info, just drop me an e-mail.

Later fellas.
