Sounds like a potent cam heheheh
Dave P (OynxSS) is running a 228/234 XE-R in his car and his running in the 123-124mph range.
Cheers,

Re: 230-236-112-XE-R
I was going to address this question to you Chris. I knew you would respond
After talking to Berry & Wade, this is what Wade suggested. To go straight for the kill. He says there should be no piston to valve clearance, & that this has worked very well in all the cars they have done, 400 + in auto & sticks.
So I'm waiting for them to come in & going to install, test, tune, & up the stall if needed. I'm not too sure I want to up the stall too much, because of the spray.
Did Dave have any problems with P to V clearance with that cam?
If it works out, sounds like it would run like a raped ape We'll find out in a few weeks.

I would check to be sure.
How much are off your heads?
Cheers,
Chris
ps- It will run like a raped ape LOL
You will need Ls1edit tuning but the new style lobes keep things quite tame. I would guess a 1000rpm idle would work fine.

Re: 230-236-112-XE-R
I LOVE this cam....
We're putting a version of it in a H/C LT1 car we've been working on in the shop.Comp told me whats nice about this cam is it makes great TQ in the midrange.
We had Comp grind it at 230-236 545-555 112.
The cars already running 12.30@110 w/a RW of 3720 using the GM hot cam.We feel this NEW Comp along w/a EWP,some tuning and 30lbs off the car will get us a consistant 11.90@112.
In a LS1 I would run more lift.
Good luck w/the setup...

The XE-R will have a smoother idle, make peak horse in a different location and make more power everywhere. Not to mention that a good cam for an LT1 car has zero relevance to LS1 camshaft selection.

Re: 230-236-112-XE-R
From my list of XE-R grinds.. That would be 230/236 .592/.602.. Sounds pretty potent to me.. Thats a big cam for a 346ci.. It should wake up any car with the right tuning.. I hope you do not care about idle.. Hell if you are going that big... Why not on a 110?

Re: 230-236-112-XE-R
Post ls1edit.. Almost all cam swaps have seen positive results Black. People that have complained about their cam swaps did not change their programming.. I could be wrong. Let me say that b4 I get flamed.. Some like Jason99ta got away with not changing programs going from 227/224 to 230/224.. I think he could dyno higher if he gets tuned again, but why waste the time when heads are coming soon and he can save the money for that tune...

Re: 230-236-112-XE-R
They are out of stock on this cam, but more have already been ordered, and should be there sometime in the middle of next week. It will be in 4-6 hours from the time it arrives at my door. So may have some track results by the end of next weekend. The Detroit Woodward Dreamcruise is next weekend, so that comes before any racing.
The cam probably wont show it's full potential until I can get the stall upped. I dont know how long that's going to take from the time it's sent into Vig.
I spent so much time with Wade talking about the cam & stall, & car combo, that I totally forgot to ask what the lift would be. I'll have to call tomorrow & ask him.
However, I did specifically ask about the P to V clearance, and he said that when I asked for minimal to clean up the heads, that's what I got, mimimal taken off, and with that I would be ok. They have done this cam on heads with more taken off than what I have had taken off. I'm pretty much going to have to take their word for it, since I have no idea how I would check that with the heads still on.
Onyx, that's a smoother idle than what I have now with the TR224 on a 112!! Of course, the true duals dont help things much How much did you have milled off your heads, that required you to relief cut the pistons?
I def plan to take it to ARE to get it tuned up, after I put the cam in. Derty, I got lucky when I won that King of the Hill with only a 10.98. I think the car should be running a mid to low 10. I guess we'll see. Thanks everyone.

Re: 230-236-112-XE-R
To check your low end piston to valve clearance goto Hobby Lobby or some store and buy some molding clay. It's like a buck. I then put a decent layer around the piston head and coated the valves with vasoline. Don't push it all the way to the piston edges, you don't need to do that and it'll make a mess on the cylinder walls and get between the piston head and sleeve.
I assembled my new head on the older gasket and retorqued the old bolts down. Spun the crank a few times with the starter trigger. Check the clay to see if the valves depress into it. I think I had about .180" of clay on my piston and the valves never made an impression. Extrapolate that a bit at high revs with some valve float and you should be good to go. If it does make a depression then determine how close it truly gets to the piston head and go from there. Should be a good health check and only takes a half hour to do. It's certainly not an exact measurement but you are going to tell if you are coming close or not.
See you at the dream cruise.

Vince, my 228/234 112 idles VERY smoothly. Check it out:
ONYXSS idle
His shouldn't be too different.

Re: 230-236-112-XE-R
Well Vince u can call Comp and ask them. Its a XE-R grind that I had ground.Granted it wont peak as high as say a 590 lift cam but it should still work very well peaking at 6100RPM.
