I just went through this few weeks ago. DO NOT TAKE OIL PUMP APART easy to strip the bolts out.
Very easy to put bolt back in with eye brow snips and very small 10 mm wrench. Have an extendable magnet in case bolt falls in the pan (happened to me twice when i tried doing it with fingers). I did not have to drop the oil pan to do it.

Put a little Loctite Blue on the bolts and torque 'em to 18 ft lbs.

Wow...I'd be pretty pissed. Sorry about your troubles. Hope ya got it worked out and it did not set you back.
