Default Another stroker Q, this one about piston speed/longevity

ok,

Everyone says it is bad to go with a longer stroke motor over a square motor or a motor with larger bore than stroke.
I have a question...

What reliable rpm could you run with a 395ci stroker LS1?

Forged crank, good rods, good bolts,

3.905 bore 4.125 stroke.
Would 7500rpm be reasonably safe?

The reason I am asking is this. If you plan on having a street car with ultimate reliability (no dropped sleeves, maximum wall thickness for poweradders etc)

wouldnt the 395 be a great choice?

I am just curious as to everyones reasoning on this. Some of the super strokers have 4.125 strokes and arent flying apart at 7500rpm.

Thanks for your thoughts,
Chris

ps- I am asking because I can easily throw a 4.125 crank in the car and a different rod and make 395ci without resleeving. The added ci and the larger (relatively) cam I could run would be worth about 35RWHP/35RWTQ easily in my setup over the whole powerband.

I wouldnt be revving over 7Krpm and probably shifting arounfd 6700rpm.

Again your thoughts appreciated...

There is a spreadsheet I did awhile ago that will let you change the rod and stroke values and view the piston position vs. crankshaft degrees, and well is the various derivitives (velocity, acceleration, etc.). You can get peak, average, adn all instantaneous numbers.

You can set an arbitrary value for max piston velocity, max avg. velocity, etc. - but it will be just that: arbitrary. Realistically you probably will not see any breakpoint at any specific rpm - as you start getting higher you will be closer to the edge, etc. That said with good components I don't see any problems with your setup. What kind of rods/crank/piston are we talking? If it's a set of billet rods - sounds good; a set of SIR I-beams? Maybe pushing it. When you get the piston made I would let the manufacturer know about what kind of piston velocities / r/s ratio, etc. you will be running and see if they feel comfortable/what they want.

But yep, given all the little details, I don't see any problem with it.
