Thunder Heads and Cam Install

Thunder Heads and Cam Install
Well I picked up my car from Thunder yesterday and to say the least I'm very happy with the results..Geoff and crew installed a set of GTP Stage 2 heads with Jason's old TR224 cam....
But first remember the motor problem I had a few months ago with a peice of something getting into #2 cylinder and causing all kinds of problems ?? Well once I pulled the heads of the old engine I never found the metal or whatever got into the motor..
Well last Monday before Geoff pulled the motor he dynoed the car to get some before results and on the second pull the motor died..Once he restarted it had the same knock or rattle as the first motor !! He went ahead and pulled the motor to find a small peice of metal on top of #7 piston but this time it didn't do any damage to the piston or head...
Also while blowing the intake out another small peice came out about the same size as the first just waiting to mess another engine up !!
So we can only think the first peice that got into the first motor found its way back into the intake and was there all along after the new engine was installed at the dealer...The mechanic never blew the intake out before installing it on the new engine and once it was ran hard to the rev limiter it fell back into the block...
To say the least the dealer here in town did a real shitty job installing the new engine and because Geoff is very good at what he does prevented another nightmare...
But the before numbers were...312.5 rwhp @ 347.7 lbs of torque
The after numbers are...397.0 rwhp @ 402.9 lbs of torque
The car pulls hard runs great and still gets 25 mpg on the highway with the A/C on driving 70-75 mph..
Geoff , Paul and the rest of the Thunder crew are pro's at what they do and I just want to say thanks for a job well done..
BTW Jason I heard your under the weather so I hope you get well soon...

Re: Thunder Heads and Cam Install
What other mods do you have? I currently run the Thunder 224 and was curioud what to expect with a set of S2 GTP heads. I am a bit suprised that this setup didn't break the 400 mark. What kind of tuning is done to the car?

Excellent numbers Tim! That would be around 420rwhp easy locked up with the Vig 3600 you are running.
We were both shocked to find the extra piece still in the intake manifold. Geoff was blowing some compressed air in it and we heard something rattling around. We turned the manifold over and the piece just fell out. LOL Glad that is all taken care of.
I'm glad my old cam found a good home. It was race proven, so I figured the $1000 price tag was fair.
BTW, I am feeling a whole lot better now. The surgery went well and I'm feeling better each day.

But very glad to hear you are doing OK and when you get a chance email your home and cell phone numbers again so I can give them to Erin ..She's moving into her apartment this weekend for the fall semester and just incase she needs some help with anything..
