Default Finally sharing my build…

Coming soon…

In December of 2016, I started this project with a 1999 coupe. First thing I did was convert it to an FRC.
25.5 cage/4-link/9”
RPM TH400/ProTorque Billet U9 converter
Current starter engine - Iron truck block/370”
TFS 245 heads
FIS Ultra Street class S476
BTR custom cam
On Methanol, no radiator, no inter cooler
Holley Dominator

built on jack stands in my garage. Hoping to fire it up this weekend.

Thanks man. It’s hard to believe it’s taken so long, but with two job changes, a wedding in Hawaii, and a house reno that spiraled out of control, I couldn’t keep on it as much as I would have liked.

Your ride is an inspiration to this build. I’m hoping to run similar times. The car is built to go faster, but I’m not confident that the power plant is up to the task…. Atco will be the test track.

Thanks John. I’m signed up for a rental at MIR 11/11. But I may be able to get to the Cecil one too. I’ll text you later today.

In December of 2016, I had a perfectly running race car. LS7 427 with w TH400 conversion. Still IRS and ran 1.27/9.45@141 with a used old converter that flashed to 7500rpm.

Then, I got the crazy idea to build a car for Ultra Street and NMCA Extreme Street. You know, back when the class was running low 5/high 4s…

I really prefer the hardtop look… so, out came the sawzall…

off to the chassis shop for a 25.5 cage

Then, I figured… IRS is too difficult to deal with…

Time for a 4-link/9” install. 40 spline. Gun drilled. Spool.

That means the transmission goes up front… That also meant I had to modify the firewall…

Now, I’m also not a fan of red…

may I present to you… Ceramic Matrix Grey Metallic…It’s a GM color used on some Vettes and CTS Cadillacs.

So, the turbo stuff took a bit of figuring and redoing. Exits in front of both front tires.

Because the headers are up/forward, I had to find placement for the coils… made up these brackets and they bolt to the OEM engine mount locations… since I am using a motor and mid plate.

Holley Dominator will control all of it.

My punch list is;

Install doors/fenders/front bumper

Install fastener system for the hood.

install the wing

install the windshield

None of these items will be accomplished prior to the first fire up.

Yep John. We met at LSFest. I was hangin with Pizza Joe and we spent some time with Anthony and you. Been a few years ago now…

M1 - no radiator - no IC.

Louis from ARH was talking to me about the 235 stuff, but there really aren’t any local places to run that class.

I’m going to try the 275 classes around here. PDRA has a new slick tire class that looks fun too.

First things first. Get to the track and see how we do. I’m signed up for the Cecil rental. Thanks for the heads up on it.

WOW! Forgive my Corvette ignorance, but I would have had no idea you could cut one up and make a FRC out of a hatch. Very cool!
I also really dig the creative use on the mounts for the coils! Any chance you know the paint code on that color?

There is a thread on corvette forum specifically about weight. There are several other cars there built similar to mine that are in the 2500/2600 range without driver. One is even 2300!
Scaling and alignment are next week (I hope). I’ll be sure to post up.
