Expensive is relative. Compared to a hyd lifter SBC, yeah they're expensive. The cam alone runs about $400.

You don't have to change the rockers or lifters, but you do want to change the valve springs, retainers and pushrods.

Actually cams are around 360.99 shipped you just gotta know who to ask around here .Anything in the 221 and up duration and over 550 lift makes excellent power on stock heads. It just depends on how radical you are wanting to go.Are emissions a concern to you? There are so many excellent cams out there its like being in a candy store....I want this one..no wait this one..and this one too .

An M6 is more friendly to a cam swap than an A4 without tuning.

If you have an A4 I would plan on getting LS1 Edit too ($550). Beside tuning issues such is idle and SES codes, most cams need higher shift points for best performance.

Yes, i wanna stay smog legal...and i dont wanna change heads, and do not wanna change springs, pushrods, and all of that...
Is there a cam where i can be a "potential bolt-on" where i dont have to change anything else?
Im lookin for a cam that will give performance to a STOCK motor and give a lumpy exhaust sound.

ANYBODY??

if you change the cam and not the springs and push rods you could get coil bind or float a valve either way not good if you want your motor to run rough just un hook a couple plug wires and it will like **** in no time
