I've heard that the block alone is about 700. Not sure what they really are going for beyond that.

I know that I can get one minus a few of the accessories for about $2k or so. Call some of the auto parts places that specialize in buying mass quantities of product from GM. I find the best deals at those places more than I do through a dealership. If you need a number for a place send me a PM and I can get it for you.

Just called SDPC and got a price for a long block.3200 bucks without the core charge.I think thats a good deal.Put my ls6 intake on and my TR 224 cam with the headers and all the other boltons and think i could make over 400 rwhp with more mid range tq than a ls1.What do you guys think?

I thought the longblock was in the ~$3800 range. Try calling SDPC and asking. I know there was a core charge on that engine also...

They come both ways. Most would prefer an aluminum head on our cars though. Not sure on what the advantage would be though.

the aluminum heads are the high flow heads , similar in flow to ls6 heads but with lower commpression. the iron heads flow considerably less. most people shy away from them.
