Default How to check valvespring installed height?

Which tools do I need (part numbers if possible), where can I buy them, and what should I expect to pay? Is there a documented procedure to setting/changing the height?

If I can get the parts before Saturday, one head will be done while off the engine, and the other while on...else both while on.

Thanks!

Mueller!....Mueller!....
You need a spring height checking tool. Call American Motorsports and see if they have one. You might need shims if the installed height is too tall.

What springs do you have?

I have the 26918's. Pete says the installed height needs to be in the range 1.825 <-> 1.835. I bought a valvspring micrometer, but don't know what else I need or the procedure...

Shoot for around 130lb of seat pressure. This will require ~ 1.78" installed height.

You have to remove the spring, and put the micrometer in it's place with the retainer and locks, then you turn the tool until it expands. Then you see what the height is at and determine if you need to add shims or longer valves or machine the spring pockets. It's not rocket science.

He said that with my cam there was any need to have seat pressures more than 120-125lbs. Why then 130lbs?

My cam: 218/226 527/535 112LSA.

All this is null'n'void if someone doesn't tell me how to do it <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
