I would buy a whole new block from valve god dirt cheap and then have the stroker kit put on as everything will be new and fresh and you wont have to worry about any block problems.

Valvegod's stuff is cheap for a reason. Factory defects and such. I would rather keep my stock block.

Buddy bought a set of cores from him, had them ported, and they cracked within the week

Just a side note for you. Kill your Caps Lock. It is viewed as yelling and hurts our ears. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Can you tell us more about the porter and the heads?

Sweet,

Any reasonable chance that head can be welded up and fixed or is it toast?

Sweet,

I back all the items I sell, so I would watch how you make statments here on the NET. If you had a customer contact you that his graphics were pealing 8 months after he purchased, I am sure you would want to see the vehicle before you made a decision.

Your friend Allen has sent me PICs of the heads he purchased 8 months ago, that were used cores. I reviewed the PICS, and advised him to send the heads back so I could inspect closer. Yes they were used cores, and yes it was 8 months ago. The heads were supposedly just ported recently and failed shortly after instal. First of all, I try to be more than fair if there is a problem with an item. On the other hand no company is just going to say yes they will cover a performance part, used, core or even new item that was purchased 9 months ago, then modified. Also remember it is a USED CORE PART for rebuilding, which means not NEW. In the pics, it appears after porting and re surfacing the heads, it must have exposed or almost exposed a casting flow that later popped through. How this was not seen by the machinist, or the installer I have no idea. Allen and I have been talking, and he plans on sending the heads in.

When I sell a part, I advise the customer verbally and in writing, if its used, new, surplus, core (to rebuild) or a second. I have sold more heads and blocks than you can think of, and this is the first set of heads to my knowledge that has ever failed. I COVER AND REPLACE WHAT I SELL MORE THAN WHAT IS NORMALLY EXPECTED. YES, IF YOU WANT GM NEW WITH A GM WARRANTY (VOIDED FOR RACE APPLICATIONS)GO TO YOUR LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND PAY 3 TIMES THE COST OF WHAT I SELL CORE HEADS FOR.

There is no problems with the blocks I sell, just ask all the board sponsers that have purchased these from me to build motors for customers.

Best regards,

Shaun Carter (valvegod@aol.com)

I've bought several hundred dollars worth of parts
from Shaun.

Out of the bunch of parts that I've bought, I had
one flex plate fail, I sent it back and Shaun replaced
it.

I have no hesitation buying from Shaun again.

If you've got some money in the portwork etc,
Get it to a Pro-head shop.

Dpending on the crack and underlying structure,
it certainly might be fixable. Aluminum can be
reworked and made just as good and strong as
original.

It's one the great characteristics of Aluminum.

I'm not badmouthing Shaun, but I'm pretty sure he states with all his sales that they may be mis-castings, or have had factory defects and such
