Have been considering it for a while, and tossing around doing most of it myself with a freind. But there are so many thing's involved that I would pay to have it done, to insure it runs as best possible.
It would be done with a 5 axis CNC head port job, cam matched with bench flow #'s, upgraded valve train and 1.85 rocker arms and a ls6 manifold. Looking for 425 rwhp NA.
How much did you pay and what was done? Any and all input greatly appreciated!
Thanks, Dan

I really do appreciate the input, and have looked at all of the above, as well as Cartek's LS6 stage II package.
Has anyone here had a local speedshop do it for you? and if so what amount should I expect to pay if I have it done?

You can expect ~$1000 labor for that much work, give or take.
You might wanna check out a set of JPR's heads with a TR 224/224 or the 230/224. He is making some great numbers. $2250 shipped for stage 2's aint bad, all hand ported though. If you have a 6 speed and all the bolt ons you will beat your 425rwhp goal IMHO.

Keep in mind that this was through a 33 spline 12 bolt/3.73's and only 10.8:1 compression ratio. If you are on a stock rear end and higher compression, I'm sure at least 450rwhp+ would be doable for you assuming you have similar bolt ons.
I spent $1550 total on stage 2 TEA heads. Normally the price would have been $1850 for the same heads, but I jumped in on a GP.
Breakdown of all the parts that I got for that include:
$1500 for stage 2 port with titanium retainers and 987 comp double springs, Ferrea 2.02 intake valves and 1.55 UDI dished exhaust valves. Also included in this price was the milling of the heads to .010
The other $50 was all that TEA charged me to upgrade from 5.7L heads to 5.3L truck heads
A set of GTP 5.7L heads would have been $2400. Add the Comp 987 double springs that TEA gave me for free, and the price goes to $2900. Then add an upgrade to 5.3L truck heads and your price becomes $3200 or so.
I basically spent half as much for TEA heads instead of GTP heads.
Don't get me wrong, GTP heads are probably the best out there. I just couldn't justify spending an extra $1650.
