Default Enlight of my last dyno last week. Do you guys think I still have a problem?

I was thinking about this today.. Do you guys think I have a problem with my car still? Or my car is operating within the norm..? The heads are not the best, but I was told I might not have the cam for my setup. Mismatched components.. Even though I have decided on what my next setup is going to be. I might entertain one more cam swap..

Vince have you been back to the track since that first low-shifting outing? I'm curious to see how the car will run when shifted at 6500 or higher and with atleast a 1.85 sixty'.

I personally believe nothing is wrong with the 226 x-er cam you have chosen...but I cannot speak of the heads because I have absolutely no experience with them outside of what you have posted.

Have you considered putting stock heads back on the car? This is just a suggestion, but one that will take the variable of "bad" heads out of the picture. I personally would take this route over any other. It is cheaper than new stage 2's and I think the 226 Xe-R is just fine.

But what cam are you considering? Something bigger that is less streetable and will require more tuning? Something proven?

Just my opinion: If I were in your shoes I would turn an eye to a closer to stock set-up rather than one that is more radical (and in that more expensive).

Good Luck

Vince, have you had a chance to run it down the track a few times? That's what is really going to matter. The dyno is a bit on the low side but if it performs well at the track, then you may want to keep your current set up.

Vince's car is HEAVY, so it will be hard for him to get decent "heads/cam" track#'s out of it without a lighter driver. However going back to the track and actually driving correctly will show a comparible difference to last time

Vince, you need to find someone you can trust to drive the car right at around ~170-180 lbs or so to see what it can really do. Your big *** alone is robbing you of about 3 tenths/3 mph. I think your car driven properly at a 3550ish race weight would run some decent #'s.

As for the cam issue, I am sticking to what I said earlier. I think it's worth a shot...

I dont know Vince, but I doubt he weighs so much more than 170 lbs that just his weight slows the car down that much. However I could definately believe a very skillful driver could get 3 more mph out of the car by shifting higher/quicker.

Vince, don't spend another dime on the car until you have decided what would make you happy or your longterm goals for the car (might be the same thing) and go from there. Just make sure you dont end up paying for labor on a cam swap that won't work with a forced induction setup for example. If you can swing the cash, get a set of heads from a reputable porter [subliminal] GTP!! [/subliminal] since your low dyno problem started occuring with the head swap. Just my $.02

The weather sucks now and I want to wait till I put the shift light in b4 I go back to the track.. Mike I was thinking of putting the stock heads back on, but I had to pick up something with the heads secondary to dyno'ing higher with them... I've been doing a lot of reading on a lot of cam and head specs.. Off the board research.. All leads to mix-matched components. I am trying to take the easy route at this point. I am going with a entirely new setup next year and I do not want to sink a lot of money into the car. Cam swap is the cheapest and so is changing exhaust.. Late next year I have big plans for this car.. I want to buy a house first and then start on my new setup.. I am just waiting on the IT field to stop tripping..

Vince is 6'7 and weighs almost 300 lbs. He's a big boy....

And yes, he stated he was shifting at 6K last time. I don't know what crack pipe he was smoking, but thats way to low for a 226 XE-r cam. He DEFINATELY has a lot of room left in his setup with traction, weight, and higher shift points...

Geoff at Thunder Racing recommended I iron out a few things first b4 coming there to tune the car with ls1edit. I understand his concerns and would not have a customer drive so far to get minimal results.. Thats good business on Geoffs part..

Craig G is a great guy Ask him how much more power he thinks you will make with his heads and same compression ratio.I am sure he will be honest. As he knows Brian.

Vince I dont think your numbers are too bad considering the gears and all.I am also not sure of your comrpession ratio.I say take it to the trck and have fun if someone makes 10 more hp than you dont fret it.
Besides your 6'7" and weigh 300 lbs if someone lips off about the way it runs beat there a$$

H82BBAD... Going to jail does not appeal to me.. I wil accept my fate like a man.. I was thinking because of the gain from the cutout a 226/236 XE-R would be a nice cam.. Who knows.. I could be just wasting more money.. I am sure someone is thinking... What is his problem..? No other hobbies besides going to the gym. Maybe I will enter the Toughman Contest next year and win that 50K.. Training for that will keep my mind off this car..

LOL!! I picked up 15rwhp peak from the dual cutouts in the y-pipe and at one point it was 16.7rwhp.. That is the reason I was thinking maybe a cam with more exhaust would help me out a little, but I might just save for the next setup if swapping cams is not recommended. I should just enjoy the car. It is running.
