I am thinking about doing a cam on my 98 ls1 camaro. i was wondering about some 6.0 heads. where can i find them. i was wondering if any other vehicle has them. maybe find a core somewhere. what kind of internal changes have to be made. and what are the power gains.
thanks for the help. oh yeah what kind of cam should i look for and with what specs. the car is a daily driver.

 

Go with the 5.3 heads as they will make more power because of the higher compression also I would go with a thunder racing cam for a daily driver such as their 224/224 561/561 cam.The 6.0 heads are for more of a power adder motor like a turbo or blower type charger.Dont even waist your time unless your going that route in the future.

 

where would i find the 5.3 heads. are the found on any vehicles i can have them ripped out of. what are the power gains. (estimate)

 

and also what kind of mods would need to be donbe to fit those on.

 

You can pick these heads up at any local dealer but I would shop around for the best deal. You might wannna get them ported and built (bigger valves better springs etc..,) so they can handle the bigger cam. In the new GMHTP they pulled around 430 rwhp with those heads slightly ported with a 226/226 cam. <img border="0" alt="[Firebird]" title="" src="graemlins/formula.gif" />

5.3 heads came in GMC and Chevy trucks. If you can find a totaled one (from the rear), you can probably get them cheap.

 

than what should i do. any other modifications need to be done.
