Default What cam with ported 4.8 truck heads?

Would a split, single pattern, or reverse split make the most power with a set of 4.8 truck heads?

If they are 5.3 heads then I would go with the reverse split. No scratch that it depends on how they were ported that would determine my camshaft choice.

It depends on the head flow numbers. Look at the exhaust vs. intake flow relationship. This is exspressed as a percent. If its low, say in the high 60 to mid 70 percent range go with a standard split patern favoring the exhaust side like a 218 224. If its high 70 to mid 80 go with a single patern like a 224 224. You could also go with one of the reverse splits at the high percentage rates but I'm not real familiar with so I'll let some one else comment on that. Also you need to look at where your heads stop flowing. If they peak out at say .525 lift, theres not much use having a .600 lift cam. This decreases port velocity and makes the motor feel weak low in the RPM. Hope this helps you out a little.
