Just fired up my project car ('87 RX7 Turbo II / '00 LS1 & T56) only to hear what sounds like a spun rod bearing. Someone mentioned that the LS1's sometimes have piston slap untill their warmed up good.
Anybody know? I'd really like to not have to do a rebuild before I can even drive the car!
Thanks

An easy way to tell wether its piston slap or a spun bearing is to let it get warmed up all the way. If its a spun rod bearing it will get louder as it gets warmer. Piston slap does the opposite, goes away as the engine gets warm. If its piston slap I wouldnt worry about it. Hope this helps you out
