From what I have been told, the LS6 cam is a waste of time.

The general feeling is, if you are going through the work of changing cams, put one that will build POWER!

Dont waist yourself. If you are doing it to keep a warranty then use the GM hot cam kit as a few have put down some excellent numbers.

Have you heard of anyone using this hot cam kit? The price sounds alright! I was gonna go with the LS6 cam since i can get it for 75 bucks. Is there a lot of difference beetwen these 2 cams?
Please help me decide

I seriously doubt more than 10% of GM dealerships in this country would warranty a car with a hotcam in it if you had drivetrain problems (grinding tranny, broke rear, broken rocker arm, etc). GM just sells the part...they dont say you retain your warranty with it.

My dealer is installing the Hotcam and has committed to honour the full extended GM warranty - but only because I bought it thru them and they are doing the install .

It's the generic GM price for the cam kit (I paid Can$ of course but I think it's US$475?) and the car will in in for a day for the install.

I installed an 02 LS6 cam in a buddies car a few weeks back just to see what it would do. Car pulled 360/355 with only other mod being a lid. This was on a car with 500 miles and the dyno was done directly after install so Im sure the #s will jump a bit as everything breaks in. The good thing about the LS6 cam is nobody will ever know its there. Idles like stock and no valvetrain upgrades needed(except springs). For someone looking to be a lil sneaky and make some good power I think the LS6 cam is a good choice.

Camin Beasst, I read in GMHP magazine that the 02 ls-6 cam would not work in a stocK Ls-1. They said it would not clear if the stock valves were used. They also said that you can't even put it in a 01 Ls-6 engine due to clearence issues, Thats why GM changed the valves to longer Soudium filled ones so it would clear IN 02 z06'S!
Are you sure it wasn't the 01 Z06 cam which will fit in our engines with no valve modifications?

I have seen a previous post where the 2001 LS6 cam went into the high 11's. I think it was JPR?

Will a 02 ls6 cam fit in a ls-1 without changing to 02 ls6 longer valves?

It will fit, but there was an article in GMHTP where they were talking to one of the GM engineers who questioned valvetrain durability if you did that....
