Default LS6 01 vrs. LS6 02 differences???

Guys, couple questions:
-Are there any differences between 2001 and 2002 LS6 heads?
-What is the difference between doing a head job on a new set of heads(or low milage heads) vrs. a used set with 6000 miles for ex.?
Thanks in advance.

The heads are the same. The springs and the valves on an '02 are different. They are hollow stem valves, and they are sodium filled.

Very, very nice. Get you the weight of Ti and good thermal transmission properties.

Generally, used (or "seasoned") heads will have distorted as much as they are going to (from the heat cycles; only a few thousandths of an inch, if that), so once they are machined back into spec they're pretty solid. They have also shaken loose a lot of the casting flash, sand, etc... from the water passages.

Thanks guys. Give me a confort feeling as I exchanged my 02 LS6 heads for a set of 01 LS6 ported heads. Specs on the new ones where 2.055 on the intake and 1.60 on the exhaust. I guess valve where replaced for larger ones as well...
