Default Heater Core

Will a broken heater core line cause a coolant leak. We just pulled the manifold to check the coolant lines underneath for a leak and found none. I have a coolant leak somewhere and cant find it.

YES it will! Get a coolant system pressure tester & check for leaks.

There is an obvious leak I just cant tell where it is coming from. How hard is it to change a heater core or its lines. Can I turn the heater on to check for signs of a broken line/core?
Thanks

first i would locate the problem then start changing out parts. for the heater core you need to pull the dash out to replace it. check the coolant tubs under the manifold and also check the coolant plugs on the back of the cylinder heads. also it has coolant plug with an allen key on the block. check them all before changing anything. if its the heater core you would smell the coolant in the car.
