We ran into a clearance problem using a ASP C5 pulley, the sealing flange ran into the front plate of the oil pump. Solution was to have the seal depth milled about 3mm, it was basically just extending the stepped part of the pulley the thickness of the oil pump spacer.

and that area there should ALWAYS be checked regardless of the make of balance...last thing you need to do is bottom the balance in the oil pump....break the gear and end up in the depth of despare....

What exactly is the part that has to be machined? The front of the oil pump? Is it something that can be milled down with a dremel, or should a machine shop do it?
Dremil isn't going to do it...needs to go in a lathe and extend the stepped down area by .160" to give it oodles of room...good machine shop probable would do it for SFA

I have been running the ASP pulley and Rollmaster on my '01 C5 for months. I just replaced the pulley for an unrelated issue (the steel pulley was slipping on the aluminum hub) and observed no signs of interference on the new pulley or the old.

that's fine...but it still needs to be checked...not everyone is lucky
