Default ASP and Rollmaster double chain

Has anyone installed both together and had any clearance problems?

We ran into a clearance problem using a ASP C5 pulley, the sealing flange ran into the front plate of the oil pump. Solution was to have the seal depth milled about 3mm, it was basically just extending the stepped part of the pulley the thickness of the oil pump spacer.

I've never seen how the pulley and oil pump match up. Is the part to be machined the end of the pulley hub or the shoulder on the hub? check this link. Thanks for the help. sorry the link will not work unless you open it in Corvette forum

Is it common to have this clearance problem? I have a double roller rollamaster and an ASP underdrive pulley that is supposed to go on with my cam install next weekend.

What exactly is the part that has to be machined? The front of the oil pump? Is it something that can be milled down with a dremel, or should a machine shop do it?

It is the area where the crank hub runs on the seal...the manufacturers only step this area down long enough for it to pass into the oil pump with minimal extra length. Even if you weren't using a Rollmaster dual set, it is an area that attention should be paid to...you are only spacing the oil pump .125" and it gets into trouble...

Dremil isn't going to do it...needs to go in a lathe and extend the stepped down area by .160" to give it oodles of room...good machine shop probable would do it for SFA <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Thanks! I think i've got it figured out now and I'll have to take my pulley to the machine shop and have it clearanced next week when it arrives.

I have been running the ASP pulley and Rollmaster on my '01 C5 for months. I just replaced the pulley for an unrelated issue (the steel pulley was slipping on the aluminum hub) and observed no signs of interference on the new pulley or the old.
