Dual Valve Spring Failure With the recent posts of quite a few single valve spring failures, I was wondering have anybody experience any dual valve spring failure? Which manufacturer makes the best and most reliable dual valve spring for the LS-1?
The reason is, I am currently thinking of the idea of increase my valve train reliability by switching to (1) dual valve spring [when I get my head ported], and (2) switch to a shaft mounted rocker assembly like the Jessel units.
I currently have the MMS 218 cam, Comp 918 springs and stock rocker arm. After the last valve spring failure, I do not want to experience that again.

Re: Dual Valve Spring Failure I broke an outer 987 about 1.5 years ago when I had the 228/228 .588 lif cam in.Computer wasnt tuned very well and car was bouncing off the revlimiter very hard (limiter was set at 7200)on the 2-3 gear shift.
I never knew I hurt the spring until I hurt a piston and pulled heads and found the broken spring (on another hole,on the opposite bank.)
I think the inner kept the car going with out having any damage to the valve on that cylinder.

Re: Dual Valve Spring Failure The key to the dual valvespring issue is the fact that they have had millions of miles of testing done since they've been used in many other engine families for decades. When you machine the LS1 heads for double springs basically you allow yourself to use a more "generic" spring, something not limited to the relatively new world of LS1 modding...
