Default LS6 heads VS. LS1 heads

Are LS6 heads really that much better than LS1 heads? How much hp do they have over LS1 heads? If I were to buy LS6 heads, then port them, would this be a good alternative than buying a set of stage II heads? Thanks.

Its not really worth the money to get them, unless you want the MAX hp out of a h/c setup. Its usally a 10 to 15 hp difference,i think.

But they are worth the cash when you go to a bigger CID.

Ported LS6's and ported LS1's are fairly comparable up to .590-.600 lift... After that, the LS6 heads leave the LS1's in the dust...

These are the flow numbers on the LS6 head - from the SPDC2000 web site on the factory ported GM LS6 heads....

They list for 1,ooo per head. The way I look at it, it is a bargin since with ported LS1 heads you need to surrender the cores from your car. With these there is no core charge and the price is about the same or less than LS1 ported heads.
