vortec heads for ls1?

vortec heads for ls1? Does anyone know the part # for the vortec heads that bolt on to the ls1 block.I seen the article on gm high tech performance some guy had them ported and bolted on with a cam and is making 420+hp to the wheels <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[hail]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />

Re: vortec heads for ls1? Seeing how GM likes to call every freaking V8 truck engine a "Vortec" engine, it's probably "just" a set of 5.3L LS1 heads. Yes, you cut 'em with new valves, port 'em, and they'll do 415-430 RWHP. But it's not as simple as an average Joe getting a Standard Abrasives kit and doing the porting. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
My guess is that someone like Craig at GTP was involved somewhere. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: vortec heads for ls1? The name Vortech has been used so much by GM because they havebeen gradually introducing heads with port designs that emphasize swirl function into cylinder. At first the attempt was crude on Gen 1 motors but then progressed into LT1 design and Gen 1 truck heads, then finally the great LS1 compromise of great flow and phenominal port swirl for excellent combustion and atomization. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
