Default TR 224 install question

I just (finally) ordered my Thunder Racing 224/224 .561/.561 112 cam and cam swap package.
My question is... can this cam be installed into my 2000 SS (6 speed) "straight up" or must it be "degreed".

My experience has been that the dot to dot method has come within 1 degree on every install I've done or seen... You should be fine, just make sure they are dead-on lined up. Also, all TR custom cams are ground with any advance or retard already in. So you should install them "straight up".

Thanks,
Shane

Hey TK 14 SS, which springs did you go with? I went with the Isky 295-D valvesprings with my TR cam package instead of the 918's.

Im staying with the 918s and trusting that they will either be okay or that TR is watching out for me <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

I sure hope that I don't end up regretting it <img border="0" alt="[Banging Head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />

Damn! I cant wait <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />

Troy, I got the exact same package. I dropped 4 tenths and gained 3 MPH. I think yo will be very happy with it.

Good luck, Stu

You guys know that REV in florida currently has the only true double spring that fits in the stock spring seat unmodified. I just bought some this week to replace my kmotion 750's.

so are you saying that all you gotta do is stick the cam in, line up the dots, get programming and thats it. I thought NO MATTER WHAT you had to degree your cam <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />

Mighty, these cams are ground to be installed dot to dot. You can degree it in but it's not necessary by any means.

Just stick it in, line up the dots, and you are good to go.

Thats why cam companies grind 2-4 degrees of advance in a cam . They take timing chain deflection into account so that cam will be close. If you want to change your power band you can advance or retard cam.

Chuck already had a spring compressor but wasn't positive about the double springs. Any suggestions or links would be appreciated.

Thanks

Look at the pic in the above post. The engine should be at TDC #1 on the intake stroke when the 2 dots line up <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
