I'm new to this board and had a question for people who know about the monsoon systems in Ls1's: I bought a aftermarket head unit for my 98 ls1 with a monsoon system and when i turned the volume up on it the speakers get really distorted. I figured that the factory speakers just couldnt handle my badass head unit so i ended up buying aftermarket speakers and it still distorts them. When i listen to music i like to turn it up all the way and blow out my ear drums. I learned that there is additional amp in the back where the spare tire is and i'm thinking that my speakers are getting overdriven. Anyone have any solutions or know how to disable that freakin monsoon amp? Thanks

This really belongs in the electronics section but I can answer your question.
The BEST thing to do is run new speaker wires from your head unit to each speaker. Leave the factory wiring alone...
You can pull the Radio/Acc fuse in the fuse panel. It's the one which just shuts off the amp. I believe it is a 25amp fuse.
